An urban-contaminated area closed off for over 30 years, where nature carved out its space and gave rise to a spontaneous urban forest. A place that, despite its abandonment, found its own way to come back to life by transforming into a green lun. Now, it is reopening to the city, regenerating the soil and restoring the beauty and the vitality to the neighbourhood and its community.

Building on the soil remediation process already initiated by the natural ecosystem, the GOCCIA project will activate a system of targeted interventions to complete the clean-up of the land.
Thanks to the use of Nature-Based Solutions and an innovative governance model, a green space will be returned to the city, creating a living lab where nature not only restores the soil, but also becomes the protagonist in an urban regeneration process.
